Welcome to the course Introduction to MATLAB for Applications in Life Sciences 1(MLS1)!

This elective course has been designed to build and develop student's knowledge of the MATLAB software environment. The difficulty of selected topics gradually increases from basics data operations to advanced biosignal analysis.

The course is divided into two semesters dealing with the following topics:

1. Semester - General introduction to MATLAB (Data Handling, Visualisation, Animations, Basic Statistics, Signal Generation and Properties, Frequency Domain Analysis, Creation fo GUI)

2. Semester - Practical applications (Design of Digital Filters, Signal Analysis, ECG/HRV/EMG Analysis, Basics - Neural Networks, Optical Flow Algorithms etc.).

The course will be held via Webinars. A zoom link is provided below. Each lecture starts with an introductory part, which is subsequently followed by a practical applications section. The course contents can be modified according to the student's topic of interest and prior MATLAB knowledge. Detailed information about the course content and grading will be provided during the first lecture.

Students are encouraged to schedule personal consultation whenever help is needed regarding the content of the course or different MATLAB related projects. The basic list of used literature sources is given in a separate slide set (MLS-References), which might be expanded during the course. Please, be informed that the schedule may change occasionally. Therefore, check your e-mails and schedule regularly.
